Blue drives are consumer-grade, offering stable read and write speeds (sustained transfer rate of 120-150MB/s), making them suitable for large-memory OPSs for storing daily presentation materials, balancing performance and cost. Green drives, while emphasizing low power consumption and slightly slower speeds (approximately 100-120MB/s), are only suitable for large-memory OPSs for storing infrequently accessed backup materials.Red drives are designed for NAS, supporting 24/7 operation and suitable for shared storage in presentation systems comprised of multiple high-memory OPSs. Purple drives are optimized for surveillance scenarios and, while suitable for high-memory OPSs, they are not as fast as Blue drives in loading content, making them a poor choice. Furthermore, enterprise-grade Black drives offer high performance but are costly. If your high-memory OPS doesn't require extreme performance, they shouldn't be used.

How to choose a mechanical hard drive?

First, consider the rotational speed. Large-memory OPSs often need to simultaneously process multiple presentation materials. We recommend a 7200 rpm model, which offers a sustained transfer rate of approximately 150MB/s and is well-suited for multitasking. A 5400 rpm model offers a transfer rate of only 80-100MB/s, which can cause lag when loading high-definition content. Secondly, consider the cache and interface. For optimal efficiency, a mechanical hard drive with a cache of 64MB or greater is recommended, along with a SATA III (6Gbps) interface. Furthermore, products with an MTBF of 1 million hours or higher are recommended to ensure long-term stable operation of the large-memory OPS.
